Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association


The Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association (GSDI) has 38 members from national and regional associations, government agencies, academia and private industry, from 20 countries. The individual arm of GSDI - the International Geospatial Society (IGS) (www.igeoss.org) - has over 400 individual members from 55 countries.

GSDI supports the UN GI Working Group (UNGIWG) and UN GGIM initiatives and has Special Consultative status at the UN. We promote open data principles of GEOSS and are involved in SDI capacity building activities in developing nations via the GSDI Small Grants Program and training opportunities offered by our institutional members.

GSDI are members of the Joint Board of Geospatial Information Societies and have MoUs with the International Cartographic Association (ICA), the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) for joint activities. The Association hosts the very successful GSDI World Conferences around the globe since 1996.
