Associations, Federations and Special Interest Groups

Aware of the importance of international cooperation for the advancement of science, INSTICC works closely together with several other national and international associations and is proud to welcome them as partners in its activities or to arrange initiatives in cooperation with them.

While several forms of partnership are welcome, INSTICC places special value in "Technical Co-Sponsorships", by means of which both associations support each other from a scientific perspective for their mutual benefit. Additionally, in this case, members of partner organizations benefit from the same registration conditions as INSTICC members.

Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication


INSTICC is the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication, a scientific, non-profit, association whose main goals are to serve the international scientific community by promoting, developing and disseminating knowledge in the areas of information systems and technologies, control and communication. It has organized hundreds of successful scientific conferences across the world since 2003, in collaboration with the main international institutions in its areas of interest.

Workflow Management Coalition


Founded in 1993, the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) is a global organization of adopters, developers, consultants, analysts, as well as university and research groups engaged in workflow and BPM. The WfMC creates and contributes to process related standards, educates the market on related issues, and is the only standards organization that concentrates purely on process. The WfMC created Wf-XML and XPDL, the leading process definition language used today in over 80 known solutions to store and exchange process models. XPDL is a process design format for storing the visual diagram and all design time attributes.

Object Management Group


The Object Management Group (OMG) is an international, open membership, not-for-profit computer industry standards consortium. Founded in 1989, OMG standards are driven by vendors, end-users, academic institutions and government agencies.

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society


The Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society seeks to advance science and technology in geoscience, remote sensing and related fields using conferences, education, and other resources. The fields of interest of the Society are the theory, concepts, and techniques of science and engineering as they apply to the remote sensing of the earth, oceans, atmosphere, and space, as well as the processing, interpretation and dissemination of this information.<br>

ACM Special Interest Group on Spatial Information


ACM SIGSPATIAL addresses issues related to the acquisition, management, and processing of spatially-related information with a focus on algorithmic, geometric, and visual considerations. The scope includes, but is not limited to, geographic information systems (GIS).

Italian Society for Photogrammetry and Topography


The Italian Society of Photogrammetry and Topography (SIFET) is a non-profit organization that promotes the diffusion of topographic and photogrammetric techniques at national and international level. It promotes international cooperation between the worldwide organizations with interests in the Geomatics activities.

The Imaging and Geospatial Information Society


Founded in 1934, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is a scientific association serving thousands of professional members around the world. Our mission is to advance knowledge and improve understanding of mapping sciences to promote the responsible applications of photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS) and supporting technologies.

European Association of Geographers


The principal aims of EUROGEO are to advance the status of geography by:
- organising events and activities for members
- producing publications for members
- supporting geographers in their jobs and careers
- identifying and promoting good practise
- lobbying at European and national level
- giving advice on geography
- making recommendations to decision makers
EUROGEO promotes the European dimension in geographical education as a contribution towards the development of European citizenship. By doing so, EUROGEO encourages the development of a greater European awareness through the medium of geography and increases mutual knowledge and understanding of Europe.

Geospatial Information and Technology Association


The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is a member-led nonprofit professional education association and leading advocate for anyone using geospatial technology to help operate, maintain, and protect North America’s infrastructure. Through industry leading conferences, research initiatives, chapters, and outreach programs, GITA provides ongoing learning and engagement opportunities for its members. Founded in 1982, it is one of the world’s oldest GIS focused associations.

Canadian Institute of Geomatics


The Canadian Institute of Geomatics is the Canadian Not-for-Profit association that represents the interests of all groups in the geomatics community and is the Canadian member to the International Federation of Surveying (FIG) and the International Cartographic Association (ICA).

European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers


The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) is a global professional, not-for-profit association for geoscientists and engineers with approximately 19,000 members worldwide. Its network of commercial and academic professionals provides opportunities to all members both globally and locally, for example through the EAGE Local Chapter Czech Republic. The association is truly multi-disciplinary in form and pursuits, always developing its portfolio of events in response to the evolution of the industry. 2020 will mark our foray into the digitalization of the energy industry with our First Digitalization Conference and Exhibition (Vienna, 6-9 April 2020) and the latest edition of our Digital Transformation Area at the EAGE Annual 2020.

Italian Association of Physical Geography and Geomorphology


The Italian Association of Physical Geography and Geomorphology (AIGeo), is a not-for-profit association composed of 230 members from academia and private industry, research institutions and government agencies. The objective of the Association is to promote, facilitate and coordinate physical-geographical and geomorphological researches and to promote initiatives for the training of physical geographers and geomorphologists and the dissemination of territorial and environmental culture.

University Consortium for Geographic Information Science


The University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) is a non-profit organization that creates and supports communities of practice for GIScience research, education, and policy endeavors in higher education and with allied institutions. We are the professional hub for the academic GIS community in the United States, with partnerships extending this capacity abroad.

Geographical Information Systems International Group


The GISIG Association operates in the GIS field, grouping organisations from more than 20 European Countries and acting through the promotion of European projects and the establishment of thematic networks and national secretariats.
The GISIG main objectives are:

· to set up a network of GIS operators and users, grouping together the experience of universities, enterprises and administrations, in order to foster the exchange of information and of experience;
· to promote common GI initiatives and projects, e.g. in the framework of the European Union Programmes;
· to establish thematic networks for a collaboration environment inside the partnership and towards groups of professional operators and users."
